Party Time. Excellent!

This is what happens when tree bark decides to reach out and pull your hair.

It got a little chilly at night:

Over the weekend we celebrated one of my best friend's birthdays.  She invited us over for a late, intimate dinner.  It was a relaxed, low key evening spent chatting and laughing, followed by coffee and some of the most delicious pastries I've ever had.

And I just had to include some photos of the birthday girl.  She has impeccable style that is seriously enviable.  For her celebration she looked like a super stylish 60s-inspired go-go girl, and I mean that in the very best way possible.  So cute.

Happy Birthday, Fatiha!  You are an amazing, thoughtful, funny, inspiring, encouraging, and beautiful friend, and my life would be a much less happy place without you in it.
Gros bisous!

Today I'm participating here.

No Pain, No Gain

{dress: target, cute alternative  //  shoes: target, similar  //  cardi  //  belt  //  necklace: delias  //  earrings: handmade}

Have your muscles ever been so sore that the pain actually wakes you up in the middle of the night?
Well, I got to experience this oh-so-lovely of phenomenons last night.
There is no way to describe it other than that it feels as if my muscles are literally broken (which I guess they actually are; go figure).
Maybe popping in a P90X dvd after ignoring it for over a year and expecting to keep up with the amount of reps I was able to do when I was on the program might have been a little optimistic.
Either way, I can hardly straighten my right arm.  And it's times like these I'm glad to be a lefty.
(The times when I'm trying to use normal scissors or a non-wireless mouse - not so much).

And, oh yes, my outfit.  It's just something I threw on to go for a picnic at a nearby lake.
But really, I just wanted to give you something to look at while I complain about how I can't recover from a workout like I used to.

Today I'm linking up here.

Pure Magic

{cardi & tights: old navy  //  dress: target  //  shooties: payless  //  sunnies: express  //  earrings: handmade}

When I first decided to start blogging, I figured that the writing part would be a breeze.  I mean, talking about myself should be the simplest part of the whole thing.  It's one of my most very favorite subjects.  But I can't tell you how many days I sit down to write and come up with nothing but writer's block.
Today is one of those days.

And I wanted to think of a clever way to add this in, but the fact that I can't shouldn't prevent me from sharing this little piece of magic with you:
My friends and I got to meet the intelligent, funny, and extraordinarily talented Penn & Teller.
I know it seems as though I keep meeting celebrities left and right.  And lately, though I can't fathom why, I have been.  Trust me, this is not the norm.  I mean, it's not like I'm a groupie or anything - I just follow famous people around and flash my boobs to security so I can get backstage to meet them.  There's nothing groupie-ish about that, right?
