One Dress, Two Ways

One of my favorite parts about getting dressed is remixing the clothes I already have. I find the challenge of coming up with new ways to wear the same things really rewarding; it sparks my creativity and forces me to try new combinations that I otherwise might not have thought of. Plus, it's pretty easy on the wallet, too. I'm proud to say that since I started this blog over three years ago, I've only repeated outfits a handful of times (it's usually when I wear something and don't document it for the blog, so I feel entitled to wear it again. I'm a crazy person, right?).

Anyway.

I hadn't worn this dress in over a year, and never in cooler weather, so I decided to take her out for a spin and remix her two different ways for fall. In this first outfit, my legs stayed nice and warm with the help of my kushyfoot tights. I love their opacity and texture, but I have to admit that when I realized they were control top I was totally turned off. I loathe control top. But  miracle of miracles, they didn't squeeze the life out of me. I can honestly say that this is the first pair of control-top tights I've worn that are actually comfortable. Pain-free control top tights exist.  Who knew?

I love how a simple change of jacket and shoes can transform an outfit into something entirely different. I wore this back when it was still slightly warm enough for bare legs. But even so, I wore fleece-lined trouser socks with my boots, and I was cozy all the way up to my shins. These babies will really come in handy during winter. A lot of my boots require thin socks, which usually leave my feet freezing cold. This pair is thin yet still cozy and fleecey. I don't even know how that's possible, but I'm so glad I found them.

The sweet people at kushyfoot also sent me a pair of emergency flats like such:

I brought these on my recent vacation to Las Vegas, and they were an absolute lifesaver. Or for the less dramatic, a foot-&-toe-saver. If you've ever been, then you know that there is a lot of walking to do, yet high heels look very nice at the club. I have no shame carrying my heels with me all the way from the hotel to the bouncer, awkwardly putting them on while standing in line to get in. Then folded up and into my clutch the flats go, to be taken out again when it's time to stumble on home.  #Classy.

Heart and Soul

{sweater | tights | sheinside skirt, c/o | similar booties | chicwish necklace, c/o}

I'm back from vacation and that means it's time to get back to reality.  {And by reality, I mean winter.} Spending a couple weeks in Florida was a great way to pretend that I don't live in NJ, but just to drive the point home that I do, it's been snowing every day since I returned.    It's almost as if the state herself took a personal offense to the fact that I was fantasizing about residing somewhere else on the east coast, and said, Oh really? Deal with this.  As you probably guessed, these photos were taken before my trip, back when it was still a reasonable 42 degrees outside.

In other slightly vacation-related news, don't you just love the big pile of mail waiting for you when you come home?  I find that it really helps to soften the blow of coming back from two weeks of hanging around in the sun and eating whatever I damn well please.   This time around I was lucky enough to have multiple packages waiting for me, one of which included these new FDS portable cleansing cloth pouches.  I've used the FDS wash for years now, and am so addicted to it that I kind of freaked a little bit my first day of vacation when I realized that I forgot to pack my tiny travel bottle with me.  These wipes would have come in pretty handy then.  Each package comes with three pouches of ten wipes.  The pouches are so slim that they easily slip into my tiny, overstuffed purse, and are so cutely designed that nobody would ever know what they really are.  Ain't they adorable?

Sponsored by FDS.  I received samples as compensation, and all opinions are my own because I really, actually use FDS and stand behind it 100%.

I'm Thankful for...All of You

Reminder: Our World Boutique giveaway happening right here!

Every year around Thanksgiving, I like to take some time to reflect on what I'm thankful for.  Just being alive and possessing the ability to think about all that I have is a blessing in itself, and when you get right down to it, there are about a million things to be grateful for.  To list each and every one would take a good, long time.  So this year, on this blog, I want to focus on everyone who helps to make this little blog of mine possible.  To my readers, supporters, commenters, encouragers, silent lurkers, sponsors, friends, contributors, constant cheerleaders, photographers, and helpers; to those that give me their honest opinions, constructive criticisms, and unwavering support - I truly thank you from the bottom of my heart {and soul}.  Each and every one of you are an integral part of the success of this blog.  Without you, bitty.and.bunny couldn't possibly be the fun, rewarding, wonderful, happy, sometimes frustrating but always fulfilling, creative outlet that it is today.

::Thank you for being you.  Have a Happy Thanksgiving::

Please note that this is a scheduled post, so if I don't respond to comments, it just means I'm probably enjoying life outside of the internet.  Whatever that's like.

My So-Called Inspiration

{dress (on sale!) | cardi, c/o Our World Boutique | tights | booties, necklace, hat, c/o chicwish}

Remember Angela Chase from My So-Called Life?  I honestly wasn't even thinking of her when I got dressed, but growing up in the '90s apparently has deep-seated effects.  Such as having her style nestled so deep into my brain that it I bust out fabulously early '90s outfits practically on autopilot.

{I mean, right?!}
At least I retained something from that show besides my crush on Jordan Catalano.

...And if you were a fan, then you will love these next 8 minutes of your so-called life...

Baby Brunch Best

{target top | tulle skirt (similar) | steve madden boots | fossil watch | kohl's necklace (similar) | groopdealz bracelet (similar)}

I wore this to a baby shower over the weekend, and despite everything I've heard about the horror that is attending one, I had a really excellent time.  The party was held at a trendy restaurant (that was closed to the public just for us) and included a tasty brunch, a unisex guest list, and some hilarious conversation with my friends & table mates.

In the last 10 minutes before leaving the house, I was scrambling to change out of my lightweight chiffon dress that I realized was not working the moment I stepped out into the still cold weather.  In what might have been my fastest sartorial decision to date, I put this little number together.  I actually can't believe I hadn't worn it until now.  I've thought about it so many times, and really, floral + denim?  It just makes sense (in a totally illogical, only because I'm a style blogger kinda way)

Burritos, Bowling, & Beer

{thrifted gap sweater | ON dress c/o (similar) | f21 necklace (similar) | fossil watch | steve madden boots}

So, believe it or not, this was my bowling outfit yesterday.  Some friends invited us for a couple games beginning at 9am.  Not one to pass up the opportunity to pay a measly $1.50 per game (a bargain!) for something as silly as getting to luxuriate in my soft, cushy bed until 10 on a Sunday morning and wake up feeling completely and utterly rested, I agreed to go.  Blame it on the early wake up time, but in my sleep-deprived mind this was a completely appropriate ensemble to be worn while wielding heavy balls, borrowing orthopedic-esque shoes, and bending over a bunch.  When I walked in and saw everyone else in jeans or sweatpants, I felt pretty out of place.  And to drive the matter home, I also ran into a friend who was wearing her workout gear under a tee shirt and sweats (in her defense, she was going kickboxing after her league game).  But when we went out for brunch after (well deserved I think, after bowling a personal best of 74 whole points), I felt right at home in this little getup.  There is no such thing as being too dressed up to eat a breakfast burrito while sucking down a Michelob Ultra Dragon Fruit Peach beer.

Come party here with me.

Snow Disappointing

{target sweater (similar) | ON vest & tights | h&m shorts (cute option on super sale!) | steve madden boots | f21 necklace (similar)}

So, I was about to publish a whole post about how disappointed I am that just when it warmed up enough to melt the skanky snow that's been hanging out for the past few weeks, it goes and snows again.  Like, on the very same day that the other snow finally vanished. But January is a tough enough month to endure without me chiming in to complain about it.  So for a little change of pace, I bring you My List of Positive Things About January:

Positive Thing About January #1:  It's still Christmasy.  My house looks like Santa's workshop for at least half of January (ok, usually a little more).  I just love the fun decorations, and it's still kind of sort of acceptable to have them up throughout the month.  Come February, that crap won't fly.

Positive Thing About January #2:  It's chilly enough to consider purchasing these.  Anyone own a pair?  Good?  Bad?  Ugly?

Positive Thing About January #3:  Sometimes the snow has little ice crystals sitting on top of it = nature's own glitter.  As a female who enjoys sparkly things, I appreciate this.

Positive Thing About January #4:  I get to wear lots of cozy layers.  I know I complain about the cold, but I admit that about 3/4 of the way through summer I'm really missing the option to top my outfit off with a thick, chunky scarf, a cool pair of boots, or an oversized cable knit sweater.

Positive Thing About January #5:  The cold weather provides a perfect excuse to snuggle up on the couch, whip up a batch of hot chocolate and a big bowl of popcorn, and guiltlessly enjoy hour after hour of Shameless on dvd.

*Also, I'm a finalist in a creative photo contest.  If you're the voting type and you'd like to help me win, please click here and then "like" my photo.  Big virtual hugs to all who do!*

Rachel's Rainbow Legs

Hello darling Bitty and Bunny readers,  I hope you are having a super lovely week so far. I'm Rachel from Rachel The Hat, it's lovely to meet you!

The lucky Kym is on holiday enjoying herself, and much deserved too. So whilst she's away she's given a couple of us fellow bloggers a little theme to run with:

Our Favourite Fall Item
The first thing that comes to my mind when I think of autumn and winter is tights. That may seem a little weird, most people probably think of cosy knits and scarves and coats but for me, it's tights. I mean I really love tights!  I feel naked without them, and as much as I like warmer bare naked legged summers, I have to admit I am more in love with dressing for Fall.
Tights for me are so practical, they make remixing my rather large collection of dresses so fun!  Here's a peek in to some I've been wearing of late:

GREEN
 Great with other jewel colours

NAVY
Fairly normal, run of the mill, basic but very handy

ORANGE
Some may say tan overload I say, orange you glad you've seen these tights (hardy haha)

PURPLE
I have many a plan for purple tights, they go so well with many a colour

BLACK
black can be another normal easy peasy colour, but I like to jazz it up a bit with these  bad boys!

TURQUOISE
or as my family call it Smurf. This day I was known as Smurf legs

BROWN
This rust shade is soo re-mixable, its the kind of colour that goes with blacks, browns and navys!

OXBLOOD
My favourite, although i like to call it WINE, sounds classier right?!

YELLOW
Last but by no means least, another current favourite, that jaundice look is so in right now....i joke!

So are you a coloured tights fan? I am looking to add some pinks and reds to my collection and then i think my rainbow is complete. I know some people are wary of trying colours on their legs, but i say go for it! A great way to ease yourself in to colour is to try a pair with knee high boots, add a knee length skirt/dress and that way you will just get a glimpse of great colour when you move.
If you would like to see more colours of the rainbow worn on my legs then by all means come on over and say hey! I'm  Rachel The Hat and it's been lovely chatting with you (in a one sided kinda way)

Knitting Pretty

{target sweater (similar) & chambray  |  f21 shorts  |  report boots (crazy similar)  |  anjolee ring, c/o  |  diy cowl (similar)}

I know I just explained how I'm ok with constant repetition, so let's just never mind the fact that I'm wearing chambray again.  Or the fact that I'm wearing shorts with tights again.  I'm more excited about this infinity scarf that I knit.  Yeah, that one.  Up there.  The one that looks all profesh and store bought and stuff.  I've been knitting for years, but normally my finished items don't come out exactly like I've pictured them in my head (I believe this is called your-imagination-knits-better-than-you-do-in-real-life syndrome).  But this time it came out exactly like I wanted.  It only took three balls of yarn, one week of almost non-stop knitting, and a surprisingly small amount of swearing.  This scarf is my new favorite everything.  So please give her a warm welcome because you'll be seeing lots more of this cozy little cowl in the months to come.
