You may recall me publicly professing my love for this little white dress a year and a half ago (or maybe not since it was a year and a half ago), and I am finally wearing it now. (!)  The short story is that when I ordered what I thought was an identical version of my friend's, it turned out to be sewn just slightly different, in a way that magically makes it unflattering.  So my lovely, generous friend lent me her dress....and then I let it sit in my closet for a year.  (You totally want to lend me all your stuff now, right?)  Last week was really cold so I figured why not wear this lightweight, semi-sheer, chiffon, clearly-meant-for-summer dress outside without a coat for a while.  You know, to keep things interesting.  Fun fact: it was so cold that day that not even my body heat could melt the snowflakes in my hair.

On another note, I was so happy to receive those delicate hair combs and necklace in the mail from Born Pretty!  I had been wanting a long pendant necklace, and this one is the perfect length with a simple, clean design.  And don't even get me started on the hair combs.  I wore this outfit to a party and I think every single girl there complimented me on them.  They're such an easy way to add a little extra prettiness to an outfit; they're kind of my new favorite thing.  You can get 10% off of the already realllly reasonable prices at the shop with code: KNT10.

Also included in the package was the cotton candy pink soft chalk pastel (#038) below, which can be used to temporarily color hair.  I thought I did everything right when I followed The Beauty Department's tutorial, but clearly I cannot follow simple instructions because the attempt was a fail.  If you give it a try and it works, please feel free to come back and tell me exactly what I did wrong.

Deleted

Yesterday I did what I feared I would someday do.  I accidentally deleted the outfit photos I had taken over the weekend.  Somewhere between transferring them from the camera to the computer they disappeared, and without checking, I deleted them from my camera.  As soon as my boyfriend noticed me staring at my laptop,  uncomprehending and bewildered, he quickly took over to try to retrieve them.  No luck.  They're gone.  As my dad likes to say, I always knew this day would come.  I just didn't think it would be today.  Ha.

Since I deleted all the photos of the outfit I wanted to show you, I thought instead I'd post some outfits that I never planned to show you (and actually should have been deleted).  They didn't make it to the blog for a number of reasons - the outfit didn't look as good as I thought or the photos turned out wonky.  Whatever was the reason, I was content to keep them safely tucked away on my hard drive.  But due to my airhead moment, you now get to take a peek into what you were never supposed to see.  Enjoy!

Deep Thoughts About Deep Frying

p.s. - There'll be another one going up tomorrow.  Be sure to check back for it soon!

{marshall's dress (similar) | joyce leslie cardi | payless tights (similar) & shoes (cute option) | gifted watch | kohls necklace}

As I type this I'm sitting in my workout clothes trying to muster up the willpower to exercise, while simultaneously watching a show about deep fried everything.  All it's really doing is giving me a craving for deep fried butter...till I look at these photos and remember how much these already size large tights squeeze without the help of a blob of fat-fried fat.  And so I remind myself that I love my wardrobe too much to jeopardize it by outgrowing it due to my lack of motivation and love of lard.  TV off, workout on.

Walking Advertisement

{target skirt (so similar!), sweater (similar), blazer, & scarf | ON tights | aldo boots (on sale!)}

I just realized that about 70% of my outfit is from Target.  I'm so branded up, I almost feel as conspicuous as a Nascar driver with sponsor logos emblazoned all over his uniform...but at least this is a little more subtle than walking around with a giant bullseye on my back....or chest and forearms, as the case may be.

In a Frozen State

{h&m shorts & sweater (similar) | f21 hat | payless tights | delias boots (crazy similar) | kohls bracelet (similar) & necklace}

Please excuse my pursed lip, sour lemon expression in these photos.  I think my face just froze like that when I took off my coat.  I was just. so. cold.  I was trying really hard not to be; I was thinking warm thoughts, concentrating on not shivering, and I mean, I was even wearing a leopard print hat.  If the presence of faux leopard can't keep me toasty, I don't know what can.  But when living in NJ, sometimes you just have to grin and bear it....or in my case grimace, groan, grumble, and grouse....that's just as good, right?

On another note, if you haven't already signed up for Crowdtap, then you are just plain cray cray.  Answer some questions and then you can get free stuff, like an Old Navy dress.  Amongst other free stuff I've received?  A bikini, workout clothes, a whole party pack of bbq seasonings, and amazon gift cards.  Seriously, what are you waiting for?  Click here to sign up.
(This portion was in no way sponsored by Crowdtap.  I am a member and get perks when I refer others to sign up.  But so does everyone else.)

Baby I'm Back

{ON dress, c/o | kimchi blue coat (crazy similar) | UO necklace | diy scarf (similar) | payless headband & tights | Steve Madden boots | Gramma's vintage brooches}

Hi everyone!  Please forgive my extended absence.  I just spent the last two weeks at my sister's completely awesome, yet internet-lacking apartment in Florida.  I had planned on posting to the blog while down there, but it seems I didn't posses the foresight to inquire about whether her place was internet-equipped or not.  (It was not).  But the good news is that we got to spend lots of quality time together; shopping, doing hair, cooking Thanksgiving dinner, catching up, and sharing lots of laughs & pumpkin-infused cocktails.  Extra bonus - my mom & brother also live down there, so I got to visit with them a bunch, too.  It was fantastic getting to see my family while relaxing in the warm, sunny Florida weather.

Just when I was getting used to the idea of Christmas lights on palm trees, I returned home to a blast of cold, grey weather that I was definitely not prepared for - either physically or mentally.  At least I had this new and adorably flattering, but more importantly, free Old Navy winter dress to wear*.  Getting to don a pretty, long sleeved dress with colored tights always helps to make the acceptance of winter just a little bit smoother in my book.

In other news, the supremely sweet and friendly Irene of Love Simple Green did a Q&A with me recently.  If you've been lying awake at night wondering what my favorite quote is, or how I'm working toward my dreams, check out the post and wonder no more.

Rachel's Rainbow Legs

Hello darling Bitty and Bunny readers,  I hope you are having a super lovely week so far. I'm Rachel from Rachel The Hat, it's lovely to meet you!

The lucky Kym is on holiday enjoying herself, and much deserved too. So whilst she's away she's given a couple of us fellow bloggers a little theme to run with:

Our Favourite Fall Item
The first thing that comes to my mind when I think of autumn and winter is tights. That may seem a little weird, most people probably think of cosy knits and scarves and coats but for me, it's tights. I mean I really love tights!  I feel naked without them, and as much as I like warmer bare naked legged summers, I have to admit I am more in love with dressing for Fall.
Tights for me are so practical, they make remixing my rather large collection of dresses so fun!  Here's a peek in to some I've been wearing of late:

GREEN
 Great with other jewel colours

NAVY
Fairly normal, run of the mill, basic but very handy

ORANGE
Some may say tan overload I say, orange you glad you've seen these tights (hardy haha)

PURPLE
I have many a plan for purple tights, they go so well with many a colour

BLACK
black can be another normal easy peasy colour, but I like to jazz it up a bit with these  bad boys!

TURQUOISE
or as my family call it Smurf. This day I was known as Smurf legs

BROWN
This rust shade is soo re-mixable, its the kind of colour that goes with blacks, browns and navys!

OXBLOOD
My favourite, although i like to call it WINE, sounds classier right?!

YELLOW
Last but by no means least, another current favourite, that jaundice look is so in right now....i joke!

So are you a coloured tights fan? I am looking to add some pinks and reds to my collection and then i think my rainbow is complete. I know some people are wary of trying colours on their legs, but i say go for it! A great way to ease yourself in to colour is to try a pair with knee high boots, add a knee length skirt/dress and that way you will just get a glimpse of great colour when you move.
If you would like to see more colours of the rainbow worn on my legs then by all means come on over and say hey! I'm  Rachel The Hat and it's been lovely chatting with you (in a one sided kinda way)
