Swirly Twirly + A Giveaway

{ON tee & hat (option) | chicwish skirt, c/o | qupid sandals (similar) | gifted necklace (cute option) | fossil watch}

I think I've made my feelings for maxis abundantly clear.  So when Chicwish was kind enough to send over this beautiful, lovely, swirly, twirly skirt, I was probably more excited than any normal person should be.  It's pretty much exactly what I've been looking for in a maxi skirt - it's lightweight, it's floaty, and it's so versatile.

Jealous?  Well don't be because you can win this awesomely adorable dress generously provided by Chicwish!  (It's a size medium but runs a little on the small side.)  The giveaway is open internationally, so everyone can enter!  Good luck!!!

Deleted

Yesterday I did what I feared I would someday do.  I accidentally deleted the outfit photos I had taken over the weekend.  Somewhere between transferring them from the camera to the computer they disappeared, and without checking, I deleted them from my camera.  As soon as my boyfriend noticed me staring at my laptop,  uncomprehending and bewildered, he quickly took over to try to retrieve them.  No luck.  They're gone.  As my dad likes to say, I always knew this day would come.  I just didn't think it would be today.  Ha.

Since I deleted all the photos of the outfit I wanted to show you, I thought instead I'd post some outfits that I never planned to show you (and actually should have been deleted).  They didn't make it to the blog for a number of reasons - the outfit didn't look as good as I thought or the photos turned out wonky.  Whatever was the reason, I was content to keep them safely tucked away on my hard drive.  But due to my airhead moment, you now get to take a peek into what you were never supposed to see.  Enjoy!

Tree Hugger

Click here for the OASAP giveaway!  Hurry, it ends soon!

^please pardon my uber-chic camera bag there^

{ON cardi (old) | whoop tee (giveaway win; designed by Tara) | target maxi (similar) | blowfish sandals | fossil watch | target, f21 bracelets (similar 1, 2, 3)}

Since today is Arbor Day (go hug a tree, seriously, it'll make you smile.  Or better yet, plant a few!), it only seems fitting that today's photos were taken during a walk through a local park's cherry blossom festival a few days ago.  The weather predicted a sunny 70 degree day, hence the skirt & sandals.  In actuality it was 55 degrees and cloudy with 13mph winds that made me want to walk around shrouded in a blanket.  But alas, cherry blossoms are fleeting and we were not about to let some wildly inaccurate weatherman stop us from enjoying them.

And just for the sake of Arbor Day:
Aren't they just gorgeous??

denim & stripes

{target chambray & skirt (similar) | f21 belt | steve madden boots | UO necklace | diy hat (similar)}

This outfit is sort of old news.  I wore it a few weeks ago, on Superbowl Sunday.  Not to watch the game, of course, but out to brunch with some friends.  The skirt with sneakily added leggings underneath was supremely comfy, and the belt around my waist was a constant reminder to try not to indulge in the gigantic cookie that my friend ordered at the end of the meal (yielding very little success).  And the hat?  Well, let's just say it was 20 degrees and windy - that thing wasn't coming off until well after I was already home, changed into pjs and an oversized hoodie, and snuggled under a blanket.  In other words, a typical Sunday evening for this fancy gal.

Winter Stripes

{ON sweater (cute option -on sale!) |  target skirt (similar)  |  steve madden boots | ON scarf}

I've been a little off track from my usual outfit posting format, but Christmastime simply requires a departure from the norm to bring you some gift guides and a fancy nails how-to, (and maybe even a couple more surprises before the big day).  But just because I've been in the Christmas spirit doesn't mean I haven't been getting dressed.

In fact, between visions of sugarplum fairies dancing in my head, and dreaming of a white Christmas, I've been conjuring up ways to transition my beloved striped maxi skirt into the colder months.  Inspiration struck and I pulled some leggings on underneath, and wore this get-up to do a little shopping.  I was totally toasty, completely comfortable, and most importantly, was wearing my maxi in winter.  That's a big ol' check mark in the win-win-win column.

You can catch me here, too.

Funny Business

{old navy chambray (similar)  |  gap tank  |  target skirt (similar)  |  sandals  |  f21 backpack  |  gifted necklace}

A funny thing happened while I was on vacation - summer ended and fall arrived.  Normally, this wouldn't be so strange, but it always seems to happen while I'm away.  Yes, you could say that it's because I usually wind up taking vacation in August or September, but the real coincidence is that the change happens during the very week or two that I'm gone.  Before I leave it's warm days, sun dresses, and balmy nights, and without a doubt by the time I get home I'm usually bundled in a hoodie, considering turning on the heat.  The quick change from warm to cool always catches me by surprise, and yesterday I still found myself reaching for shorts only to realize that it's fall and I'm no Polar Bear Club enthusiast.  But I'm still not sure what to wear.  So what do I do?  I copy.  When my friend Rachel wore this a few weeks ago, I loved it so much I told her that I'd steal the idea.  Well, now I'm making good on that threat.  Which just goes to show - you can always count on me to keep a promise.  Especially if it's a promise to rip off your excellent outfit ideas.

Meet Rachel

Hello lovely readers of bitty.and.bunny. How are you doing today? All good I hope?

Well, the super amazing Kym has asked if I would do a guest post for her whilst she's off gallivanting, and of course I jumped at the chance; I mean bitty.and.bunny readers must be super cool just like the lady herself!

I'm Rachel by the way, Kym's British Blogging Buddy, and I blog over at Rachel The Hat where I generally ramble on and play dress up 3 times a week ;)

So the theme Set is; Show me what you'd wear on a road trip.

We often do a 4 hour trip to hubby's parents house in London so I feel well equipped for this assignment.  So without further a do here's my outfit!

Shirt, Skirt and top underneath: Next
Shoes: Old
Bag: Old
Belt: Vintage (used to hubbys when he was a rocker at 18!haha!)

Now for the logic :

To me any road-trip requires a large amount of comfort. I do however still like to try and look half decent (unless I'm traveling at some ungodly hour, where in those events it's jammies all the way).

To me Maxi skirts are super comfy, they're like freedom for your legs whilst not being in the nudie!

Shoes; Have to be comfy and slip ons so I can take off and put on easily once in the car.

Chambray shirt; for when the air con's on a little high or when the temperature drops.

BIG bag; I'm a Mum so I carry a huge amount of crap around with me on a daily basis; on any given road trip you can add an extra ton of crap and that would be about right. So big bags are a must.

Sunglasses; That's a given right? I have sunnies in my car even in winter. Squinting equals wrinkles. No thank you Ma'am!

Funky top; for if I want to take the chambray off and look a bit smart, you know if we're stopping en route for lunch.

Add a sweep of red lippy and I am good to go. Red lipstick makes everything better in my eyes.

Now when I pack I tend to pack a leettlle too much; it's a problem I'm working on.  But I figured, if I can wear a lot of things then it means I can pack less (or more as it seems to be!) Each of the pieces  I pick for my road trips are things that will work with all other things I've packed. The top can be remixed with shorts/jeans. The skirt can have a different top, the shoes go with everything and we all know you can pretty much stick a chambray shirt with anything!

Genius I tell you.

So there you have it folks, my road-trippin' outfit!

Hope you like it!

I'm off to go and dream about holidays and make a mental made up list of what I'd pack to go to my dream destination. A girl can dream right?

Take it steady ladies

Rachel

The Shame of it All

{target top & skirt (similar)  |  sandals  watch  |  necklace  |  f21, inpink bracelets (similar 1, 2) }

I don't have much to say today, except that I've found my new favorite way to waste time.  Check it out: dog-shaming.com.  Apparently I can look at photos of naughty dogs who may or may not feel ashamed of their actions for unreasonable periods of time.  They're just so cute...and disgusting.  It's a winning combination.

Also, in case you're wondering, the background in my photos is the Hudson River and NJ.  I was on a date in NYC with hunny bunny and we finished the evening with a walk along the river.  And you thought Jersey was all just shorelines, spray tans and Snooki.

Feeling Knotty

{tank: f21  |  skirt: target  |  sandals: delias (similar)  |  earrings: claires  |  necklace: gift}

So, yesterday I was all tied up in knots - literally.  First I tried a new, totally easy way to style a top knot (tutorial here!), and that inspired me to tie a knot in my shirt as well.
Because, you know, if there's an opportunity to match my tank top to my hair, I'm all over it.

In other news, I recently participated in a Christmas in July blogger swap with the sweet, funny, & adorable Whitney of Katy Goes Boom.
And she sent me some fantastically thoughtful gifts.
Take a look:
clockwise from left: a chevron storage box (love!), dainty earrings that she made herself, and a can of her favorite mock-meat, FriChik, for me to try since it's not sold around these parts.
Not pictured is another gift that's arriving separately due to some curious-child-interference (ie. her daughter plucked it out of the package before she sent it). Word has it the culprit's feeling a bit guilty about plundering from my stash, and she sent her sincerest apologies via email along with some virtual hugs and kisses.  As if anyone could be mad at that kid!
Click here to check out what everyone else sent & received.

And like always, I'm linking up with the usual suspects today.
