Colors Have Feelings, Too

This post brought to you by BIC 4-Color pen. All opinions are 100% mine.

Do you remember those fun BIC® 4-Color pens we used to have in school?  You know, the 4 Inseparable Colors in 1 Pen kind of pen that was always, always, the most fun to write with and that allowed you to express your creativity (even if it was just while doodling in your notebook during history)?  I didn't know they still made them until I got a chance to see these new videos from BIC.  They're just so outrageously over-the-top silly that I have to share them with you.

Now, I have to admit, I've never thought of my pen colors as having different personalities, but after watching this video I'm suddenly overcome with great remorse at the careless way I twirled, flipped, and dropped my BIC pens over the years.  Sorry, little pen-dwellers!  (Also, isn't their multi-colored toilet paper just the best??)

Or how about this one?  Ridiculous, yet hilarious.

But probably most entertaining is how BIC has invented (disturbingly detailed) personalities for each color living inside the BIC® 4-Color pens:  Blue is arrogant, black has an inferiority complex, red is a grammar nazi, and green gets a little jealous of all the others (also, he is a crazy cat lady who bakes catnip cakes for his beloved kitty).  I never thought I'd identify with a color personality, but my kinship with red is undeniable - any personality who geeks out over correcting syntax is a personality after my own heart.

Feeling the need for a BIC® 4-Color pen of your own?  Of course you are.  They can be purchased at places like Amazon and Staples.

p.s. - Follow BIC on Facebook to learn more about the 4 color personalities, and follow along on Twitter to get daily updates from them (as in, the loveable color personalities in spandex suits).

Shoes. Oh My God. Shoes.

{Enter the Craftsy giveaway here!}

Whenever I open up my browser to go virtual shoe shopping, there are two things always happen.  First, I can't help but picture (and hear) Kelly.  She will forever be my imaginary shoe shopping buddy because she is completely awesome, even if she does have questionable taste in footwear.  And second, I then flit around from website to website, browsing the selections and filling my cart so that even if I navigate away from the shop, my cookies will remember what I wanted to buy.  Recently I've found myself visiting DressVenus over and over again, adding more pairs to my cart to patiently await my purchase.  Here what's currently in there waiting for me as we speak.

(I think Kelly would agree, these shoes rule)

I'm really feeling this new style of heel with the super flattering right-angle vamp.

Even though it's hard to imagine it ever actually being warm again, I'm eyeing these for summer.

...and these ones are just so fun (when worn with a neutral or understated outfit, of course)

Thoughts From a Soon-to-be Crazy Dog Lady

Things have gotten quite busy in my neck of the woods today, but the last thing I want to do is leave you without some form of entertainment for the day.  Enter an adorable animal video.  As my brother not-so-gently, and pretty aptly pointed out, when I talk about videos like this, I am well on my way to becoming a crazy dog lady.  And as I would imagine every crazy dog lady would respond to the allegation, I don't think I really care.  Even though this will surely prove my brother right, I suppose posting adorable animal videos to my blog is only the next logical step in my progression towards the inevitable.
Enjoy.

If you're still left wanting more -as if you could be after that little gem, which I'm ashamed to admit I've watched more times than I can remember- check out my newest sponsor, My Thrifty Chic.  Unlike me, she didn't cop out with a lame, albeit hilarious, youtube video today.

The Shame of it All

{target top & skirt (similar)  |  sandals  watch  |  necklace  |  f21, inpink bracelets (similar 1, 2) }

I don't have much to say today, except that I've found my new favorite way to waste time.  Check it out: dog-shaming.com.  Apparently I can look at photos of naughty dogs who may or may not feel ashamed of their actions for unreasonable periods of time.  They're just so cute...and disgusting.  It's a winning combination.

Also, in case you're wondering, the background in my photos is the Hudson River and NJ.  I was on a date in NYC with hunny bunny and we finished the evening with a walk along the river.  And you thought Jersey was all just shorelines, spray tans and Snooki.

I'm linking up today with the usual suspects.

Oh. Em. Gee.

{f21 top  |  limited shorts  belt  |  old navy sandals (similar)  |  gifted bracelet (from Rachel) |  watch}

I'm beginning to wonder if there's something about the way I dress that attracts the wrong kind of people to me.
For example, I got to the movies to see The Campaign early last night, and sat at the end of an empty row.  Even though there were lots of other seats around, surrounded by no one at all, two very chatty girls decided to sit right next to me, forgoing the customary one-empty-seat-of-personal-space-between-strangers rule.  Normally I wouldn't mind because often times the shows are sold out anyway, but the girl who sat directly next to me had the strangest quirk about her.  You see, instead of just laughing when something amused her, this girl would cycle through four repetitive phrases consisting of "Oh my god!" "That's hilarious!" "That's so funny!", and my favorite, "OMG!!"  All.  Movie.  Long.  And at full "I'm watching a movie in my living room" volume.
In case you're having trouble imagining what I'm describing, here's a perfect reenactment of last night.  Pretty much to the tee.  JD's saying what I was thinking.
That's so funny.

Happy Little Weekend

{top: target  |  shorts: gap  |  sandals: o'neill  |  necklace: jenny present (similar) }

Lately I've kind of been on a lace kick (see here, here, and here).  It just makes me happy.
And also, mellow painters with white-guy afros do it for me, too.
Enjoy Bob Ross's words of wisdom and have yourself a happy little weekend.

7/4/1776

As I head out for a mini vacation to celebrate our nation's birth, I'll leave you with a clip that made my week:
 It's a perfect example of one of the rights our forefathers fought so hard to give us - the freedom to blurt out whatever the hell we please all over national television.

{Mike Tyson answers why he went vegan.}

 There are some funny bits along the way,  but the real gem happens at minute 3:30.
Oh. My. God. See you on Monday!

Nuts & Intelligence

{top: gap  |  shorts, bracelet: f21  |  sandals: blowfish  |  watch: sprout  |  scarf: vintage  |  ring: c/o oasap  |  necklace: jenny present (similar) }

Since I've had a stressful week, and since I have very little brain power left, I find it disturbingly difficult to be interesting or witty this afternoon.

Luckily, I can always rely on the fine people who make jokes (really, who comes up with them?) to be clever when I can't.

And so I leave you with this:
Two peanuts walk into a bar.
One's a salted.

Ba-da-bum.
Oh, does it get any better than that?
Have a happy weekend, my friends.

I'm hanging out here today.

Highlights & Lowlights #9

{top: marshalls  |  jeans: UO  |  shoes: target (similar) }

Lowlights:
  • You know those times when it's early in the morning, and you're busy daydreaming about your plans for the day so you take the water out of the fridge for a drink but pour it into your cereal instead?  Yeah.  That happened.  (I am ashamed to admit that I still ate the cereal.)
  • Hunny bunny accidentally used my toothbrush - again.  I know it's confusing because he somehow got stuck with the pink one; but really.  Apparently my green toothbrush is throwing off a much more masculine vibe.
  • Painstakingly resizing photos one by one just to make a 5 second gif (see below) because I'm too paranoid to download a bulk resizer to my hard drive and save myself 3 hours.
  • Realizing 32 photos in that I'm resizing the wrong files! Then after resizing 13 of the correct ones, finding a gif maker that doesn't require me to resize the photos at all!  Gah!

Highlights:
  • Talking on the phone with my brother for close to 3 hours.  We live about 1200 miles apart and don't get to see each other very often.  So, when we start gossiping....well, apparently we can go on for much longer than is considered normal.
  • Scoring a free bikini from Old Navy.  Yep, 100% totally, completely, no-strings-attached (unless you count the ones on the swimsuit) free!  Interested?  I thought so.
  • This clip.  It's silly and stupid and I can't get enough of it...maybe.
  • Having a lovely date night with hunny bunny that included going out for Indian food, stopping on the way home to shoot a succession of funny photos to make the animation below, and cuddling up on the couch to watch a movie together.

    Trial & Error

    {jacket, tank, & scarf: target  //  sweater: express  //  jeans: gap  //  cowboy booties: old navy  //  bag: harajuku lovers, gifted}

    Well, last night was date night again.  If you recall, hunny bunny and I didn't make it out of the house for our date last week, so we thought we'd try a movie night again.
    This time we made it as far as the theater - only to find that our movie was sold out.  As was our second choice.
    So we did the next best thing.  We walked around one of the stores that was located in the same strip mall as the theater.  And you know what?  We talked and laughed and had an amazingly fun time for 1 1/2 hours in that little store.
    It's these kinds of unplanned, random instances that remind me just how lucky I am to have this man in my life.

    we are one good lookin' couple
