Meet Rachel

Hello lovely readers of bitty.and.bunny. How are you doing today? All good I hope?

Well, the super amazing Kym has asked if I would do a guest post for her whilst she's off gallivanting, and of course I jumped at the chance; I mean bitty.and.bunny readers must be super cool just like the lady herself!

I'm Rachel by the way, Kym's British Blogging Buddy, and I blog over at Rachel The Hat where I generally ramble on and play dress up 3 times a week ;)

So the theme Set is; Show me what you'd wear on a road trip.

We often do a 4 hour trip to hubby's parents house in London so I feel well equipped for this assignment.  So without further a do here's my outfit!

Shirt, Skirt and top underneath: Next
Shoes: Old
Bag: Old
Belt: Vintage (used to hubbys when he was a rocker at 18!haha!)

Now for the logic :

To me any road-trip requires a large amount of comfort. I do however still like to try and look half decent (unless I'm traveling at some ungodly hour, where in those events it's jammies all the way).

To me Maxi skirts are super comfy, they're like freedom for your legs whilst not being in the nudie!

Shoes; Have to be comfy and slip ons so I can take off and put on easily once in the car.

Chambray shirt; for when the air con's on a little high or when the temperature drops.

BIG bag; I'm a Mum so I carry a huge amount of crap around with me on a daily basis; on any given road trip you can add an extra ton of crap and that would be about right. So big bags are a must.

Sunglasses; That's a given right? I have sunnies in my car even in winter. Squinting equals wrinkles. No thank you Ma'am!

Funky top; for if I want to take the chambray off and look a bit smart, you know if we're stopping en route for lunch.

Add a sweep of red lippy and I am good to go. Red lipstick makes everything better in my eyes.

Now when I pack I tend to pack a leettlle too much; it's a problem I'm working on.  But I figured, if I can wear a lot of things then it means I can pack less (or more as it seems to be!) Each of the pieces  I pick for my road trips are things that will work with all other things I've packed. The top can be remixed with shorts/jeans. The skirt can have a different top, the shoes go with everything and we all know you can pretty much stick a chambray shirt with anything!

Genius I tell you.

So there you have it folks, my road-trippin' outfit!

Hope you like it!

I'm off to go and dream about holidays and make a mental made up list of what I'd pack to go to my dream destination. A girl can dream right?

Take it steady ladies

Rachel

Smitten

{tee,  similar hat: old navy  |  skirt, belt: target  |  bag: won in giveaway from Rachel the Hat  |  ring: inPink (similar)  |  necklace: jenny present (similar)}

Remember a few days ago when I declared my allegiance to my new favorite top?  Well, double that for this skirt.
Even though this is the first time you've seen it on this here blog, I may have worn this maxi almost every day of my mini-vacation last week.  On the beach, on the boardwalk, out to dinner, or at a bar, this little workhorse looked appropriate no matter where I went.  Unless you were one of the servers at the bar we kept going to.  In that case, it looked like I wore the same thing every day.
Which I did.

Today I'm linking up with these lovelies, as well as with Sharon @ The Tiny Heart, where we're styling looks for a backyard bbq.  Also, a big, grateful shout out to Rachel the Hat for sending me that beautiful, so-very-her handbag that I won in her 1 year blogiversary giveaway last month.  Thank you, Rachel!!

Bright, Sunshiney Day

{old navy tee  //  skirt: UO cute option 1, option 2 //  sandals: o'neill, similar  //  scarf: mandee  //  bracelets: f21, similar 1, 2}

This outfit is a repeat.  I actually wore it out for my birthday this past Monday but I was having so much fun that I didn't want to leave the action for a photo shoot.
So I did the next best thing - I wore the outfit again.  Just 4 days later.
(I never claimed to be hygienic.)

It was the perfect get-up for sitting in an outdoor beer garden soaking up the sun, enjoying German beer, and sharing lots of laughs and soft pretzels with friends.
As for having to swing my legs over the family-style picnic benches every time I wanted to get up from the table, well, perhaps it was a little less than perfect.
Still, 3 out of 4 ain't bad.

Check out where I'm partying today.

Adventures of the Brave & Fearless

{blazer: target  //  tee: old navy  //  jeans: limited  //  boots, belt: steve madden  //  scarf: delias  //  watch: sprout  //  hex nut bracelet: diy  //  pyramid bangle: f21}
If I were to film a horror movie, this would be the setting for it - hands down.
For over a year I'd been working up the courage to check out this abandoned house in my town, which oddly enough is set next to another equally eerie abandoned house.
So yesterday I thought to myself "What a perfect day to explore the grounds of what is surely the hideout of a pshyco-maniac who would like nothing better than to make a suit out of my skin.  Oh, it's cold, grey, and rainy.  Even better!"
This place was scary, even in broad daylight.  I don't think I'll ever have the nerve to go inside the house itself, but hunny bunny & I walked around the backyard and saw this dilapidated shed.
And then I looked inside.
i have to admit, i was not expecting creepy headless children to be in there
And on that note, enjoy your weekend!

Black & White

{blazer: target  //  tee: old navy  //  jeans: limited  //  boots: payless  //  necklace: gifted}

Welcome to another day in Vegas.  We snapped a few quick pictures before going to see the Amazing Johnathan.  He was hilarious, and amazingly neither hunny bunny nor I got chosen to go up on stage (phew).  We're not center-of-attention types if you haven't already guessed.
I know you might not have picked up on that, seeing as how I keep a blog all about me me me.
But really, I don't like all eyes on me.  Kindly look away.

Las Vegas Suitcase

Las Vegas Suitcase
This is what's in my suitcase, more or less.

For this vacation I was determined to get away with only a carry on, something that I would have scoffed at and called impossible for a 7 day vacation mere months ago.
It wasn't as easy as packing normally is, but then again, I normally just pull pretty things out of the closet and throw them into the suitcase without much thought as to whether I'll actually be able to create stylish outfits with them (I usually can't, and I usually exceed the airline's luggage weight limit, too).
This time I spent a little longer in the planning phase, complete with an excel spreadsheet mapping out all of the remixing possibilities.  (I'm a nerd).
But I think it paid off.
I may not look terribly flashy or colorful, but I will look put-together.  Besides, I'm in Vegas, baby!  It has enough sparkle for the both of us.

p.s. - this is a pre-scheduled post because I will be away until Sunday.  I'll answer comments when I get back!

(Un)dressing for the Weather

{jacket: target  //  top: old navy  //  vintage kerchief: gramma's  //  skirt & knee highs: asos  //  boots: steve madden intyce  //  watch: roxy  //  bangles: india, gifted  //  bracelet: f21}

We have been having some seriously unpredictable weather here.  A snowstorm and freezing temperatures one week, and 65 degree weather another (I'll happily take the warm temperatures, thankyouverymuch).
I headed out in a jacket, as I am wont to do given my habit of never checking the forecast and consequently wind up wearing articles of clothing inappropriate for the day's elements.  I was delighted-slash-irritated to find that I was beginning to sweat a bit in just the short one-block walk from my house to this spot.
Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go put on some expensive suede boots to wear in the rain, and lay out my sun dress and flip flops for the chilly 40 degree day tomorrow.

Umbrellas & Errands

{v neck tee & cowboy booties: old navy  //  cardi: joyce leslie  //  jeans: gap  //  earrings: claire's  //  vintage kerchief:  gramma's}

I didn't actually wear this outfit yesterday.  These pictures were from a couple weeks ago and I didn't get around to posting them the day of, so I decided to literally save them for a rainy day.  And that rainy day was yesterday.  It was cold and damp and icky outside, so naturally I decided it would be the perfect day to run around and do all my errands.  Who doesn't love driving in complete darkness at 3 o'clock in the afternoon with every car's headlight bouncing off the slick, wet roads and creating glare through your driving glasses (yes I wear driving glasses), then struggling with a soaking wet umbrella while simultaneously trying to take off your mittens and stick your car keys back in your purse once you get in the store?
What can I say, I'm a glutton for punishment.

Sadly I didn't get an opportunity to snap any photos of yesterday's outfit, but trust me - no big loss there.  Just picture jeggings & rain boots with a short-sleeve scoop neck tunic that I wound up being too cold in, so I had to add a floral long-sleeve thermal shirt underneath that peeked out from above the tunic's scoop neck.  I'm sure I looked like a 5 year old wearing her smock for craft time.
So genius.

PS - sorry for the poor quality of the photos; it's just not possible to get proper lighting inside my tiny apartment once it's already dark outside.  Even if I do have all 3 lamps in the room turned on and am standing in front of a white background for the light to bounce of off.

It's About That Time...

{tee: gifted  //  jacket: h&m  //  scarf: delias  //  jeggings: target  //  boots: old navy}

Well, it seems to be about that time.  It's getting chillier outside, the leaves are falling, I find myself wearing more sweaters, boots, and jackets, the heat in my apartment has been on for weeks, and Halloween is just around the corner.
I think it finally might be time to put away the air conditioners, don't you think?
