Double Trouble

{top & scarf: target  //  skirt & jacket: i heart ronson, via jcp  //  belt & bracelet: forever21  //  boots: zappos  //  knee high socks: asos  //  tights: old navy  //  mittens: 5below}

This week I decided to participate in Rule Breaking Monday on clothedmuch.com.  Yes, I know it's Wednesday - better late than never, am I right?
So when I first chose the title "Double Trouble," I was referring to the fact that I was wearing double florals, as the challenge goes.  It was only when I started the photo shoot that I realized how much trouble I was really getting myself into.  So much so, that I wonder if I shouldn't have named this post triple, or even quadruple trouble.

Obstacle number one was trying to shoot photos while racing against a rapidly setting sun.  So....my apologies for the blurry photos.

I didn't even notice the next trouble until I was reviewing the photos.  My belt had ridden up a bit, so some of my top is showing from underneath the belt.  Let's just pretend that didn't happen, shall we?

The third frustration was that by the time we happened upon some decent lighting (behind the movie theater...creepy), it had gotten so chilly that I had added tights and legwarmers, and I just couldn't bear to remove my jacket & mittens.  So, the last (and completely clear) photos are a slightly altered version of my original outfit.

But I did rock the double floral thing, so...take that trouble.

Keepin' It Simple, Sweetie

{sweater: target  //  button up: forever21  //  jeans: old navy  //  shooties: payless  //  bracelets: payless, india, handmade}

I love this look for fall.  It's so simple, easy, and comfortable.  I just threw it on before heading out to meet up with some friends.  Then at the last minute I decided I needed to change my jeans and my shoes.  Because I'm a girl and we typically have about three costume changes per day.
Men, you know you're jealous.

Wearable Condiments

{dress: delias  //  cardi & bracelets: forever21  //  jacket: i heart ronson, via jcp  //  tights: old navy  //  shooties: payless  //  watch: roxy}

This past weekend it finally warmed back up a bit to acceptable autumn temperatures.  And in honor of getting our fall back, which we were cheated out of last week when winter came for a brief visit, I decided to have a mini celebration by wearing mustard and getting a slice of pumpkin cheesecake from Cheesecake Factory.  Since I can't share the cheesecake with you, please enjoy visions of my mustard topped outfit instead.
And also, my gift to you:
It tastes like pumpkin pie in your coffee - in the very best way possible.  It's rather unhealthy and full of sugar, and I normally wouldn't recommend such indulgence, but it's only around for a limited time and it's just about the best thing ever.  I suggest getting yourself one...or five.

And remember folks, practice safe dress - always wear a condiment.

Lightly Chilled

{poncho sweater: target  //  long sleeve tee: old navy  //  jeans: limited  //  belt: thrifted  //  boots: steve madden intyce  //  scarf: h&m  //  bracelts: india & payless}

Last night I ran 5.6 miles in 58 minutes.  That's just 1/2 mile less than the furthest I've ever run in my whole life.
And this time it didn't even feel like my ankles were going to break.
All this cold weather might be good for something, after all.

Fugazi

{jacket & tank: target  //  cardi, sheer top, shorts, & tights: old navy  //  boots: steve madden intyce  //  necklace: handmade}

To be honest, I'm not quite sure how I feel about this look.  I think it might be one of those "better-in-theory" kinds of outfits.  In my head it looked amazing (especially with the first two sweaters I tried on, only to realize that it did not, in fact, look amazing).  But in practice...I'm not so sure.
I've said it before and I'll say it again - a camera will be blatantly honest with you, while at times your mirror will lie straight to your face.
For instance, my mirror told me that these shorts look stylish and slimming and cool, but in the photos I think they look poufy and a little too long and maybe a bit baggy as well.
But I just want to love them so badly.
What do you think?  Do they stay or do they go back?  Be honest with me here - I've kept the tags on just in case.

Full disclosure: I only wore this outfit for about an hour.  I put it on, took the photos, then promptly took it off.  My tights were squeezing the life out of me, the little bit of wool in the shorts was itching me through my tights!, and it was way too cold to pretend I wanted to be wearing anything other than flannel pj pants and a hoodie.
And now you know all my shameful little secrets of yesterday's outfit.
I feel like such a fraud.

Trial & Error

{jacket, tank, & scarf: target  //  sweater: express  //  jeans: gap  //  cowboy booties: old navy  //  bag: harajuku lovers, gifted}

Well, last night was date night again.  If you recall, hunny bunny and I didn't make it out of the house for our date last week, so we thought we'd try a movie night again.
This time we made it as far as the theater - only to find that our movie was sold out.  As was our second choice.
So we did the next best thing.  We walked around one of the stores that was located in the same strip mall as the theater.  And you know what?  We talked and laughed and had an amazingly fun time for 1 1/2 hours in that little store.
It's these kinds of unplanned, random instances that remind me just how lucky I am to have this man in my life.

we are one good lookin' couple

Cold Play

{sweater & skirt: alloy  //  boots: report, via zappos  //  hat & necklace: handmade  //  knee high socks: target}
It really has felt like winter here the past few days.  I don't even know what I was thinking wearing a skirt.  Maybe it's the fact that the thermostat is set to "Caribbean Summer" and I'm so warm inside that I forget it's actually only around 35 degrees outside.  Or maybe it's because I adore this skirt/sweater/boots combo so much that I was set on wearing it regardless of the outside temperatures.
Either way, I've already suffered through the chilly photo shoot and am looking forward to the 50 degree weather we're supposed to have the rest of the week.

And because I just couldn't let Halloween pass without doing a little something:

Did any of you dress up?  If so, I'd love to see your costumes!  Please leave a link in the comments so I can check them out.
