Why I'm In #BouqLove

Hey guys!  I recently found out about a new, pretty awesome website for ordering flowers and I want to share it with you.  It's called The Bouqs, and it's unlike any other flower website you've ever seen.  Seriously.  They have a simple pricing policy - $40 for all original size bouquets, and always free shipping!  I don't know about you, but every time I visit one of those other flower sites, I'm usually drawn in by the low price of a bouquet -- usually something like $19.99.  Excitement sets in, then I'm thrown for a loop when I start to calculate all of the extra costs like express fees or care charges.  Before I know what hit me, I'm paying $47 to send a small bouquet of limp carnations a week later than I want.  Not cool.

With The Bouqs, not only is the price a flat fee, but you can be assured that all of the flowers are fresh as a daisy (or rose, calla, or ranunculus as the case may be) because they are cut the day you order them.  What's more, they all come from an eco-friendly, sustainable farm that sits on the side of an active volcano in Ecuador.  Yeah.  Really. And have I mentioned that the bouquets are just so modern?  They've got simple, beautiful designs without any of that weird baby's breath nonsense, or lots of extra leaves thrown in as filler.  Because that is so 1993.  This one with white ranunculus and larkspur is probably my very favorite of the entire bunch.
See what I mean?  Simple, modern design that is so much more original and unique than your average bunch of roses.  (Though, The Bouqs does offer bunches of roses, too, but somehow manage to make them so much more special than any other ones I've ever seen -- see above).  And I can't get over the rustic, brown craft paper that just compliments the flowers so perfectly.

With the gorgeous selection, low prices, and ease of ordering, I can't think of a better time to send a random little ray of sunshine to somebody.  Perhaps even as a hostess gift for that 4th of July BBQ you'll be attending next week?  This oh-so-cleverly named Red, White, & Bouq bouquet would be just the perfect offering, don't you think?

Disclosure: In exchange for this post I received a coupon code for a bouquet which I haven't redeemed yet, otherwise I'd give my review of the flowers themselves.  However, I look forward to receiving some lovely flowers, as I'm sure they're going to be gorgeous and fresh!  All opinions are 100% my own.

Oh, this chevron dress.  It's been my favorite thing to remix ever since I bought it (examples here, here, here, here, and oh yeah, here too), but it was recently out of commission for a little while after having a run in with the dryer.  Specifically, one of the straps got caught up in the lint trap and ripped apart. (This seems to be happening quite a bit lately with my strappy stuff - anyone else have a dryer that eats their clothes?) Anyway, after pouting about it for a few weeks, I finally sat down at the sewing machine and Frankenstein'ed the strap back together.  It's not perfect, but with a nice denim vest thrown over, no one is the wiser (except for when I blurt it out all over the internet, of course).

Next on the list of items I ruined -- this vest.  I washed it for the first time, and it came out with white spots on the back, even though my washing machine hasn't seen bleach in months.  If this post has taught us anything, it's that I clearly can't be trusted doing simple household chores.  Anyone who's better at doing laundry have any suggestions for how to remove them?

Also, linking up today.

How To Get #Sunkissed Instantly + {a Giveaway}

Disclosure: The tights I'm wearing in this post were provided courtesy of Hanes, and as always all opinions are my own. Plus, there's also a giveaway down there at the bottom, which means you can win free tights, too!

Summertime is definitely my favorite time of year, but it's during this time that I become acutely aware that being pale isn't really all it's cracked up to be.  (The one and only time it actually is?  When you get a brightly colored tattoo, because that shit shows up!) Another blessing of the pasty-skinned is that we burn easily in the sun, so getting a real tan (along with the possibility of skin cancer) is out of the question.  Usually around this time of year I begin -very unsuccessfully- to fake tan my legs.  You'd think that after literally years of practice I'd be able to pull it off, just one time, without streaks or missed spots, but alas, no dice.  My lack of ability to evenly coat my legs with lotion is pretty astounding.

But I have found a foolproof solution!  Hanes recently approached me to try some of their new Silk Reflections Sunkissed tights, and I jumped at the chance.  I mean, an instant tan?  Sign me up!  I have to admit that before I received them, I was a little skeptical.  I kept having visions of those odd C3PO super shimmery gold tights dancers wear, and was imagining having to leave the house looking like a less cool this.  But when I put them on, I was happily surprised to find that my legs still looked totally natural; just a lot more tan (and even a little airbrushed, too).

I chose nude bronze, medium bronze, and tan bronze.  Since I'm pretty pale to begin with, I felt most comfortable wearing the lightest shade, nude bronze, because it's not a drastic difference in skin tone between my legs and the rest of my body.  But I'm pretty sure I could pull off any of the three shades with convincing believability.

Now Hanes wants to give you a chance to try some of these tights, too!  They are super generous.  Really.  Look at all the great goodies they sent me along with my tights.
--See?  Indisputable proof of generosity right here--
And also, more proof of generosity right below.
Oh, yes.  It's giveaway time.

Goaaaaaaaal!!

In case you guys have been living under a rock (or just, you know, if you're not into sports), it's FIFA World Cup time!  Much like the Olympics, this competition only comes around once every four years.  But unlike the Olympics, this one actually has me glued to the TV, or out in sports bars (a rare occurrence in and of itself), cheering for the teams I like best (USA, Switzerland, and any team whose players don't roll around on the ground crying like babies just to weasel a penalty kick out of the ref).

Friday was the kick off (pun!) to the month-long event, and already, the games have been on non-stop in this house.  So I thought this would be a great time to introduce you to the TBDress  FIFA World Cup selection, which you can find here: http://www.tbdress.com/Topic/WorldCupBrazil/.  They offer some seriously stylish soccer fan gear like tee shirts and cute jerseys.

But my favorite part is that they also have a section titled victory party dresses, which I of course focused on, because, dresses!

Simple, swingy, and drapey.  I am so drawn to this style; it's just effortlessly chic.

I admit that this one borders on obscene with the amount of boobage showing, but I think it would look really flattering on a more flat-chested woman.  I'm a sucker for a good sheer panel.

This one is so 90s-licious; I just want to put this dress on, add a velvet choker, and bust out my Hole cd.

Are you as excited about the World Cup as I am?  Which teams will you be rooting for?

Post sponsored by TBDress.com.  All opinions are 100% my own.  Go teams CH & USA!

A few nights ago was my dad's birthday, and unlike the super hot, humid days we've been having recently (yes, please! bring it on!), his special day was on the chillier side. (My dad is not a fan of warm weather, so, Mother Nature's b-day gift to him perhaps?) We celebrated outside with a BBQ and a bonfire, so wearing flannel and a jacket was definitely the right move.  They added the perfect amount of warmth for the crisp night air. I suppose that practically sitting on top of the fire pit all night long might have helped a bit, too, but I'll just let my outfit take all the credit.  Because I'm nice like that.
