Sparkle, Baby, Sparkle

{target flannel (super similar) | ON top (on sale for $10!) | f21 shorts | payless booties}

There are very few occasions that really lend themselves to wearing this much sparkle: New Year's Eve, a fancy party, your own dance recital, pretty much anytime you're on a cruise and are over the age of 75, and if you're Elvis or Liberace.

But there's a sixth, unlikely option, and it is if you're doing a guest post for someone who's on vacation in Las Vegas.  (Guess which category I fall into.)  Read about it here.

A Nip to the Air

{target sweater, jeans, shoes (similar) | jcp top (similar), jacket (similar) | fossil watch | kohls necklace (option)}

Today is probably the chilliest it's felt in a while, so I might have gone a little overboard with the layers.  I am contemplating turning on the heat, but with the air conditioners still installed it just doesn't seem right.  Also, admitting that I need heat any time before October feels wrong on principle alone.  So, basically layers, my warmth relies on you.
Go layers!

Exhibit D

{c/o ON dress (option) | f21 jacket | kohls sunnies | payless shoes | roxy watch (similar) | sahara jewelry earrings}

I wore this over the weekend, when we had our first real taste of autumn weather.  At first I was confused as to how to dress.  For the last 3 months, it's all been an effort to keep cool; for a little while there it was as if I had completely forgotten how to dress when it actually gets cool.  But then I pulled this dress out of the closet, took my own advice, and popped on some sneakers to run errands all day.  In retrospect, I see that I simply created another version of the same outfit I just realized I've been wearing for the past few weeks (exhibits A, B, & C).  And upon seeing this, my new goal is to figure out how to thoroughly wash this jacket.  I mean, right?

The Fifth Season

{tj maxx dress (similar) | f21 jacket | pacsun sandals (similar) | inpink necklace (lookalike)}

I've decided that we, collectively as a group, need to acknowledge a fifth season here - the transition from summer to fall, or Sall.  Or maybe Sautumn.  In my opinion, it's sort of the perfect time of year; it's warm, but not sticky, and cools to a perfectly comfortable temperature later in the day.  That means I can still rock dresses and sandals when I'm standing in the sun, and then pop on a much neglected jacket or sweater when I step into the shade.  It's kind of the best of both worlds.  So, who's with me?  Let's make Sautumn happen.  It'll be so fetch

...And We're Back

{target sweater (similar) | gap shorts | ON hat | payless shoes (similar) | UO necklace (so similar) | f21 rings (cute option)}

As you may have noticed, I took a blogging break over the last couple weeks.  It was completely unplanned.  Taking a spontaneous road trip sort of threw off my groove, and when I got home, I had a hard time getting back into it.  I realized that I needed to step away for just a bit.  I felt a little guilty not announcing, well, anything, but sometimes in life an unintentional intermission just needs to happen.  It's good for the soul.  Totally true; Google says so.

Despite fears that I may have jinxed the summer away by going on vacation, I am happy to report that we're still having some pretty warm days (interspersed with chilly ones that require a striped sweater and a hat) here in NJ.  Don't let the long sleeves fool you; it's supposed to be 90 degrees tomorrow.  I'm mentally willing summer to stick around until October.  Hey, it can happen.

Hi I'm Kym & I Suffer From Allergy Face...

This post brought to you by Zyrtec. All opinions are 100% mine.

It happens to the best of us.  We're feeling fine, loving life, and then the season changes and - bam! - allergies.  For the majority of my life I was one of the fortunate, allergy-free.  But just a few years ago I began developing them, and lucky me, I tend to get allergies at the end of summer; ie. right around now.  In fact just last week I woke up and began a week-long routine that consisted of sneezing all day, alternting between wiping my nose and blowing it, and having eyes so watery I looked like I was watching the last scene of Six Feet Under on repeat.  (Anyone else turn into a big mushy mess over that episode?)  I was convinced I had caught a cold, and it wasn't until I was remarking to a friend that I had cold-like symptoms but otherwise felt totally fine that she said, "Are you sure it's not allergies?"  Duh.  (I'm three years into this whole being allergic business, and apparently still can't distinguish allergies from a common cold).
Something I picked up on real quick, though: having allergies is annoying.  As if constant sneezing, a runny nose, and watery eyes aren't enough, we also have to deal with what is lovingly referred to as Allergy Face.  In a recent poll, half of women have missed an event because her allergy face made her look too bad to leave the house.  Really, allergies?  That is pretty uncool.  Look at the stats below.  Infographics don't lie.
No one likes allgergies, but looking like you have them makes the whole deal even worse.  Luckily, Zyretec is here to help.  Check out this video for some Allergy Face beauty tips.
Thanks to Zyrtec, not only can we feel better while suffering through our allergies, but we can look better, too!  For more info, be sure to Check out Zyrtec on Facebook.  And if you have any other tips for combatting Allergy Face, please be sure to leave them in the comments!  As an allergy-newbie, I can use all the help I can get.
