Funny Business

{old navy chambray (similar)  |  gap tank  |  target skirt (similar)  |  sandals  |  f21 backpack  |  gifted necklace}

A funny thing happened while I was on vacation - summer ended and fall arrived.  Normally, this wouldn't be so strange, but it always seems to happen while I'm away.  Yes, you could say that it's because I usually wind up taking vacation in August or September, but the real coincidence is that the change happens during the very week or two that I'm gone.  Before I leave it's warm days, sun dresses, and balmy nights, and without a doubt by the time I get home I'm usually bundled in a hoodie, considering turning on the heat.  The quick change from warm to cool always catches me by surprise, and yesterday I still found myself reaching for shorts only to realize that it's fall and I'm no Polar Bear Club enthusiast.  But I'm still not sure what to wear.  So what do I do?  I copy.  When my friend Rachel wore this a few weeks ago, I loved it so much I told her that I'd steal the idea.  Well, now I'm making good on that threat.  Which just goes to show - you can always count on me to keep a promise.  Especially if it's a promise to rip off your excellent outfit ideas.

Q&A at The Sunshine District

The girls at The Sunshine District recently interviewed me for a feature on their blog.  If you've ever wanted to know the answers to burning questions like where I draw inspiration from, who my favorite blogger is, what song I can't stop listening to, or a random fact about me that you probably never would have guessed, head on over to check it out.  And while you're there, take a gander at the rest of the site - you'll find lots of sweet, girly, vintage-inspired style with recipes, photos of adorable puppies, and lots of other fun bits peppered throughout the pages.

Vacation Part 3

For those of you a little rusty on your geography, Savannah, GA is just a short 45 minute drive from Hilton Head Island, SC, where we went for vacation.  So we took a ride over and spent the day in this beautiful, fun, friendly city.  We chatted with lots of friendly people (and even met a fellow New Jerseyan), saw lots of spanish moss hanging on everything, ate fried green tomatoes, visited artists working in their galleries, and strolled around in the sunshine.  It was everyone's favorite part of the vacation by far.  And here's an interesting fact: you're allowed to drink alcohol on the streets of Savannah.  Bars and restaurants all offer drinks to go!  We certainly took advantage of that little bonus and didn't waste more than 5 minutes inside any bar.  The boys especially loved it.  I don't think there was a moment a drink (or two) wasn't in their hands all day long.
No time to watch the whole movie?  Here's the f#@ing short version

Vacation Part 2

Since our drive from NJ to the very tip of SC takes 14 hours, we decided to break it up a bit with a stop in Washington, DC.  We drove there in the morning, spent the day, then drove for a few more hours before stopping at a hotel for the night.  On the way back we did the same thing, and it worked like a charm.  Not only did we get to extend our vacation a little bit by playing in DC for 2 days, but what would have felt like forever sitting in a car actually felt like the shortest road trip I've ever taken!  I'm still shocked when I realize that we spent a total of 28 hours just sitting on our butts, belting out tunes at the top of our lungs (ok, well maybe that was just me), and busting out some legitimately embarrassing car-dancing moves that we'd never be brave enough to do in public.

Vacation Part 1

Last week hunny bunny and I road tripped down to Hilton Head, SC where we spent our time relaxing by the pool, riding rented beach cruisers along the hundreds of bike paths that dot the island, chilling at the beach (which was only steps from our hotel!), soaking in jacuzzis, and cooking meals together every night.  And since SC is only about an 8 hour drive from where my sister lives, she and her boyfriend came to visit for a few days.  It was so good to have them there; I hadn't seen my sister since February, and her boyfriend for over a year.  Please forgive the complete and utter lack of pool & ocean photos; I didn't bring my camera near water once during the whole trip (I was mildly traumatized from my cell phone accidentally taking a 20 minute dip in the ocean on our first day there).  Besides the untimely death of my beloved totally old school, five year old non-smart phone the whole trip was just peachy!  And if you're wondering, I've now downgraded to my even older, totally old school, 8 year old non-smart phone.

Meet Rachel

Hello lovely readers of bitty.and.bunny. How are you doing today? All good I hope?

Well, the super amazing Kym has asked if I would do a guest post for her whilst she's off gallivanting, and of course I jumped at the chance; I mean bitty.and.bunny readers must be super cool just like the lady herself!

I'm Rachel by the way, Kym's British Blogging Buddy, and I blog over at Rachel The Hat where I generally ramble on and play dress up 3 times a week ;)

So the theme Set is; Show me what you'd wear on a road trip.

We often do a 4 hour trip to hubby's parents house in London so I feel well equipped for this assignment.  So without further a do here's my outfit!

Shirt, Skirt and top underneath: Next
Shoes: Old
Bag: Old
Belt: Vintage (used to hubbys when he was a rocker at 18!haha!)

Now for the logic :

To me any road-trip requires a large amount of comfort. I do however still like to try and look half decent (unless I'm traveling at some ungodly hour, where in those events it's jammies all the way).

To me Maxi skirts are super comfy, they're like freedom for your legs whilst not being in the nudie!

Shoes; Have to be comfy and slip ons so I can take off and put on easily once in the car.

Chambray shirt; for when the air con's on a little high or when the temperature drops.

BIG bag; I'm a Mum so I carry a huge amount of crap around with me on a daily basis; on any given road trip you can add an extra ton of crap and that would be about right. So big bags are a must.

Sunglasses; That's a given right? I have sunnies in my car even in winter. Squinting equals wrinkles. No thank you Ma'am!

Funky top; for if I want to take the chambray off and look a bit smart, you know if we're stopping en route for lunch.

Add a sweep of red lippy and I am good to go. Red lipstick makes everything better in my eyes.

Now when I pack I tend to pack a leettlle too much; it's a problem I'm working on.  But I figured, if I can wear a lot of things then it means I can pack less (or more as it seems to be!) Each of the pieces  I pick for my road trips are things that will work with all other things I've packed. The top can be remixed with shorts/jeans. The skirt can have a different top, the shoes go with everything and we all know you can pretty much stick a chambray shirt with anything!

Genius I tell you.

So there you have it folks, my road-trippin' outfit!

Hope you like it!

I'm off to go and dream about holidays and make a mental made up list of what I'd pack to go to my dream destination. A girl can dream right?

Take it steady ladies

Rachel
