blog-worthy

{target flannel & tee (similar)  |  ON jeggings  |  kamik boots  |  sprout watch  |  similar necklace}

I almost didn't show you guys this outfit.  I just threw it on (when it was still raining) to go to the library, the post office, and then to help my dad out in his chilly basement office for the majority of the day.  But when hunny bunny picked me up on his way home, he said "Oh, you want to take pictures today."  I didn't need much more prompting than that.  As I've progressed in my blog, so has hunny bunny's acute awareness of my style.  It's sort of amazing - for a guy who dresses like a cartoon character (seriously, he wears variations of the same outfit every day), I'm pretty impressed that he has become so attuned to my style, and what looks good on me.  He can now tell me - with accuracy - if something I wear looks unflattering, silly, or just plain strange.  So when he thought I looked blog-worthy, I had to take his word for it.  And besides, how could I pass up getting to take photos during "golden hour"?  This is the kind of perfect, soft, glowing light that girls everywhere strive to be seen in at all times, and I am no exception.

Psychic

{thrifted UO sweater (similar)  |  target jeans  |  payless shoes (now 50% off!)  |  f21 necklace}

I'm just popping in for a quick post before I head out for errands and other assorted bits of excitement.  I wore this outfit last week, back when it was still balmy and I could pretend that winter wasn't just around the corner.  This week has found me in rain gear nearly every day, with temperatures dropping down as low as the 40s.  Not quite arctic temps yet, but I can tell it's a chilly premonition of things to come.  Imagine that, me, a weather-clairvoyant.  For my next divination I predict that we'll encounter spring after winter.  I'm 99.999% sure.  You can quote me on that.

The White Stuff

{target top (similar)  |  ON shorts  |  payless shoes  |  sprout watch  |  f21, inpink bracelets (similar)  |  asos necklace}

Lately the weather seems to be having an identity crisis.  One day it's chilly and rainy, the next it's warm and humid.  Friday was the latter.  Not one to miss an opportunity to bust out some white after Labor Day (proof of previous transgressions here & here), I shimmied into my shorts, threw on my new denim top that's already been worn more times than it's even been washed, put on my new favorite pair of shoes, and headed out to a crowded bar where not one of my friends noticed a single thing I was wearing.  But that's ok because I got away with wearing shorts in October.  Forget wearing white until Labor Day; I wear white until Columbus Day!

btw, I linked up here today.

Apple Pie > Apple Picking

{target button up (similar)  |  f21 long sleeve tee  |  ON jeggings & scarf  |  kamik boots}

On Saturday, while celebrating Fatiha's birthday, we made plans to go apple picking the next day.  But just as we were ready to head out on Sunday afternoon, it began intermittently storming.  Add to that the fact that most farms we found declared that due to our warmer-than-normal spring and summer, the apple picking season ended early, and it looked like our apple picking aspirations were going nowhere fast.

So instead we decided to meet at an artsy cafe where each group of diners gets its own small cave to sit in, and had lunch and apple pie instead.  And it made me realize something: faced with the decision between doing manual labor to harvest my own apples versus sitting around chatting with friends while someone serves me pie, well, let's just say I'm glad it rained on Sunday.

By the way, I'm linking up at these parties today.

primp & prep

This post brought to you by Hpnotiq. All opinions are 100% mine.

Gather round, and let me tell you a story.  A long, long time ago, back when I was young and still kind of cool, I used to party quite often.  My friends and I would all gather at someone's house (or more likely, dorm room) and we'd all get ready together.  We'd choose outfits and do each others'  hair and makeup.  And sometimes, left to our own devices, well, we didn't look too hot.
Thankfully you youngins [21 and older] have access to Primp & Prep - an exclusive site by Hpnotiq made specifically to help you & your friends get ready for girl's night.  With lots of fun tidbits like hair & makeup trends (with tutorials), style advice, and even tips on how to catch the attention of the opposite sex, this site would have saved me from many seriously cringe-worthy fashion choices, and probably from making a fool of myself in front of boys more often than I care to remember.  (They say you learn from your mistakes; if so then I should have a PhD by now.  All I can say is thank goodness hardly anyone had digital cameras back then; otherwise I might be tempted to show you the horrific evidence).

And it gets even better - there's a pandora radio station to listen to and (my favorite part) lots of cocktail recipes to try out while primping.  So, hair down music up!  Primp & prep with your friends and Hpnotiq.

P.S. - You must be 21 years or older to drink alcoholic beverages and as always, please remember to drink responsibly!

Over the weekend we celebrated one of my best friend's birthdays.  She invited us over for a late, intimate dinner.  It was a relaxed, low key evening spent chatting and laughing, followed by coffee and some of the most delicious pastries I've ever had.

And I just had to include some photos of the birthday girl.  She has impeccable style that is seriously enviable.  For her celebration she looked like a super stylish 60s-inspired go-go girl, and I mean that in the very best way possible.  So cute.

Happy Birthday, Fatiha!  You are an amazing, thoughtful, funny, inspiring, encouraging, and beautiful friend, and my life would be a much less happy place without you in it.
Gros bisous!
