This Weather.

**Have you entered the bareMinerals giveaway yet?**

{target cardi (similar) | gap tank (similar) | f21 shorts | qupid heels (similar) | boyfriend's belt | fossil watch | target, f21 bracelets (option 1, 2, 3) | gifted necklace | vintage kerchief | harmon sunnies (similar)}

In the midst of the heat wave we've been having for the last few weeks, I got the chance to rock a cardigan after a blessed rain shower came and gave us a 3 hour break from the sauna-esque humidity (which has been about 85%, no joke).  Granted, this was a few weeks ago.  Amongst other things (*cough* working out *cough*) this heat is making me too lazy even to post my outfits on time.  Incidentally, it also makes my heat addled brain think it's a good idea to stumble over a bunch of stones in these heels to take some pictures.  I was so happy I didn't break an ankle that this was happening in my head for, like, the next 10 minutes.

In other news, I'm linking up here.

That 70s Vibe

{top, jeans, shoes (similar): target  |  necklace worn as bracelet: vintage (similar)  |  watch: sprout}

Something about wearing a poufy, speckled, tucked-in top makes me want to throw on some knee socks & booty shorts, and boogie-oogie-oogie on down at the roller rink.
But instead I just wore this to the mall.
So, do me a solid - pop in your 8 tracks, fluff out that afro, and get down with the funk.
Someone's got to be groovy around here.
You dig?

Come see where I'm linking up.

Highlights & Lowlights #6

{sweater, boots (similar): old navy  //  shorts}

Lowlights:
(This week there's really just one that takes the cake).
  • Having a totally embarrassing moment in front of hunny bunny.  After parking at a store, I glanced out the window and noticed that we were slowly rolling backwards.  Even though I saw him put the car in park, put the hand brake on, and shut the car off, I yelled at him to stop.  It was like every nightmare I'd ever had involving a car come to life...for about 3 seconds until I realized that the SUV parked next to us had simply started driving forward and we hadn't moved at all.  Oh, what my poor boyfriend must have thought of this crazed girl sitting in the car next to him.  I must have sounded insane.

Highlights:
  • Being able to do nothing but laugh at that embarrassing story now.  I mean, really Kym.  I am ridiculous.
  • Discovering the wonderful deliciousness of mustard added to my grilled cheese sandwich.
  • Running out of creamer and improvising by adding a little almond milk and almond extract to my morning coffee - yummy!
  • Hunny bunny shaved himself a fu man chu as a belated birthday gift to me, and I just can't get enough of it!  Yep, I have strange taste in facial hair.  (Next up, I'm going for mutton chops).   Sexy.

    Highlights & Lowlights #4

    {top, wedges (similar): target  // jeans  //  bracelets  //  sunnies: harmon}

    Lowlights:
    • Having to spend some time at the DMV.  I don't know what kind of witchcraft voodoo they've got going on, but no matter what the temperature is outside, it's always stiflingly hot inside.  It's quite remarkable, really.
    • Picnik (my love, my editor of choice, my best friend blogging tool) closed.  It was such an easy, fun, user-friendly photo editor.  It will be missed.
    • Spray on self-tanner.  I look like some strange Snooki-zebra-leopard hybrid.  I'm now tan, striped, and spotted.

    Highlights:
    • That one time I looked like Zooey Deschanel.  Yes, I just wrote an entire post about it, but it's just a little too awesome not to mention again.  Fair warning, I'll probably mention it about 5,683 more times...this week.
    • I just discovered a new, healthy snack - cover half an apple with a couple slices of cheddar cheese and broil for a few minutes. I may have been lazy enough to make this for dinner twice this week.
    • And speaking of tasty snacks, I've also been loving on this dessert: banana mixed with nutella and toasted walnuts.  I'm a fan of the easy.
    • Getting to borrow my dad's sweet Audi while he was on vacation last week.  I love my pretty little Scion tC, but I just felt uber cool driving that baby around for a little while.  So what if there were so many controls, buttons, and dials in there that the console was in Spanish and I had heat blowing from the left vents, and AC blowing from the right?
    •  Always finding it easier to think of highlights than lowlights.  That's pretty great.

    It's party time.

      L'Artiste

      {sweater: old navy  //  jeans: limited  //  boots: delias  //  socks: steve madden  //  bangles: gift, diy, f21}

      So, this has nothing to do with my outfit, but have you guys seen The Artist?
      Hunny bunny and I just saw it last night and I was surprised to have been so enraptured by a black & white film with no talking.
      It was unique and different and funny and charming.  And all the vintage style 1920's / 1930's fashions the characters wore?  It was like eye candy, I tell ya.

      High Hopes

      {sweater: old navy  //  jeans: UO  //  shoes: target  //  watch: sprout}

      First and foremost I want to thank everyone who sent good wishes my way yesterday - your words truly mean so much.

      Last night we received some encouraging news about my boyfriend's sister.  The doctors have deemed the tumor operable and they suspect that it may have attached itself to her skull instead of her brain (this is a very positive thing).
      Of course, we won't know for sure until the operation, which is scheduled for Friday.  Until then she's been released from the hospital and is able to go home to spend time with family.

      Hunny bunny and I still think about her constantly and have taken to reminding each other how healthy and strong-willed she is.
      We have very high hopes that she's going to be ok.

      Live From New York

      {top: alloy  //  jeans: gap  //  cowboy booties: old navy  //  necklace: gift  //  bracelets: delias, target, handmade}

      I love this outfit.  It's so easy, breezy, hippie chic.  What I didn't love, though, was taking these outfit photos in front of a live audience.
      That's right, what you don't see is that there were bleachers full of people with not much else to look at than some chick getting her photo taken in front of a pane of glass that overlooks a street.  Then again, it's New York City.  They probably didn't even notice I was there.

      (Photos were taken at High Line Park.  If you ever have the chance, check it out.  It's a unique fusion of natural elements and creative urban landscaping that was thoughtfully planned and beautifully executed.)
