To wrap up my little round of travel-themed posts, here's the outfit I wore for my return flight home from Florida (sad face).  For the first time in probably my entire adult life, I had e.x.t.r.a. space in my luggage!  Which means that I didn't have to wear my biggest shoes or bulkiest items on the plane in order to save room. Score one for finally, finally getting the hang of this "smart packing" thing.

Just like the title says, I'm keeping it plain and simple.  This is the easy outfit I wore for my flight (see what I did there with the title?)

(Excessive amount of luggage not pictured.)

Please note - this is a pre-scheduled post.  I'll respond to comments when I return.  See you soon!

I'm Thankful for...Jessi

Taking over today is my gorgeous friend, Jessi, of Haircut and General Attitude.  She is one of my favorite people in the blogosphere - she is sweet, has a great sense of humor, and an awesome style that features lots of stuff our grannies would wear, but in the most modern way imaginable.  Besides, we're both vegetarian and hate cold weather.  I think we may be soul mates.

Outfit Details:
Jeans - ModCloth
Sweater - H&M
Vest - JCP
Bag - Target
Booties - Forever Young
Necklaces - Local Boutiques

Hey loves! I'm Jessi and I'm super excited to be borrowing Kym's blog for the day while she's vacationing.  Me and Kym go way back.  Well, kind of.  We've just been bloggy friends forever :)  She's the best.  We bonded over our many similarities and crappy weather.  And every time I come here I leave laughing!  I love that!

Anywho, today I'm sharing an outfit fit for Thanksgiving Dinner.  Something totally comfortable but with dressed up details.  I love the idea of wearing a stretchy sweater like this one to hide the little gut I'm sure to get from all that food ;)  The vest adds some more detail (and more tummy-coverage) and the little bit of bling on the collar is my favorite! Add a little jewelry and some fun heeled booties, and I'm ready to feast!  Oh, and the hair totally fits the Thanksgiving theme, right?  I mean it looks kinda pilgrim-y to me...

Well, here's to a fulfilling Thanksgiving for all!  As a fellow vegetarian I won't be having any turkey but I'm sure I'll devour my fair share of mashed potatoes and pumpkin pie!  Mmmm....

Please note that this is a scheduled post, so if I don't respond to comments, it just means I'm probably enjoying life outside of the internet.  Whatever that's like.

Baby Brunch Best

{target top | tulle skirt (similar) | steve madden boots | fossil watch | kohl's necklace (similar) | groopdealz bracelet (similar)}

I wore this to a baby shower over the weekend, and despite everything I've heard about the horror that is attending one, I had a really excellent time.  The party was held at a trendy restaurant (that was closed to the public just for us) and included a tasty brunch, a unisex guest list, and some hilarious conversation with my friends & table mates.

In the last 10 minutes before leaving the house, I was scrambling to change out of my lightweight chiffon dress that I realized was not working the moment I stepped out into the still cold weather.  In what might have been my fastest sartorial decision to date, I put this little number together.  I actually can't believe I hadn't worn it until now.  I've thought about it so many times, and really, floral + denim?  It just makes sense (in a totally illogical, only because I'm a style blogger kinda way)

Bare Naked Ankles

{h&m sweater (similar) | limited jeans | aldo booties (back in stock & on sale!) | f21 necklace}

Wednesday's sunny, ankle-baring weather very much felt like a gift.  Like the kind of gift that if you got it in summer you'd ask for the receipt so you can run and return it because your day would be an insufferable, freezing 40 degrees, but if you got it yesterday you'd rejoice because your whole day got to be a sunny, toasty 40 degrees.  It's all about perception, really.  That and the ability to trade out legwarmers & knee highs for short ankle socks at least once during winter.

Find me here, too.

The Shame of it All

{target top & skirt (similar)  |  sandals  watch  |  necklace  |  f21, inpink bracelets (similar 1, 2) }

I don't have much to say today, except that I've found my new favorite way to waste time.  Check it out: dog-shaming.com.  Apparently I can look at photos of naughty dogs who may or may not feel ashamed of their actions for unreasonable periods of time.  They're just so cute...and disgusting.  It's a winning combination.

Also, in case you're wondering, the background in my photos is the Hudson River and NJ.  I was on a date in NYC with hunny bunny and we finished the evening with a walk along the river.  And you thought Jersey was all just shorelines, spray tans and Snooki.

I'm linking up today with the usual suspects.

Stop me if you've heard this one...

{top: gap  |  skirt: UO  |  sandals: blowfish (similar) |  watch: sprout}

So, a French man, a French woman, a Russian, and a Swiss guy walk into an Indian restaurant...
with their token local American {me}.
The least I could do was wear an ethnic ikat printed skirt and try to remind them of my German roots by sporting milkmaid braids - all in the hopes it'd give me enough foreign flair to be worthy of dining with such an internationally eclectic group of people I'm happy to call my friends.

An Ode to Humidity: Haiku

{top, shorts, necklace: f21  |  sandals: blowfish  |  rings: inpink, c/o oasap, (crazy similar 1, 2) }

An Ode to Humidity
Backyard barbeque
Too sticky, sweaty, and hot
I'd rather be nude

These photos were taken by my wonderful friend, Jayvik, when he and some friends came by for a bbq yesterday.  He and his awesome wife are pretty hilarious, by the way.  These were the only ones I wasn't completely cracking up in.

Psst...I'm linking up over here today!

Working Girl

{top: ny&co  |  shorts: gap  |  sandals: delias (similar)  |  ring: c/o anjolee  |  watch: sprout }

Last week my dad's ex-wife moved out of her house and out of the state, and left the place a completely cluttered, trashy mess.  I'm talking clothing still in drawers, a pantry full of expired food, dirty girdles, basement filled with 8 years worth of Christmas decorations, doors off closets.  Unfortunately, my dad's name is still on the lease, so in order to get his deposit back we have to go clean up after her mess.
Gee, thanks.  How......considerate?

Anyway, I knew I'd need to wear something that would keep me cool and comfy and that I could move around in (separating hundreds of random items into piles of keep, trash, or donate, then hauling leftover furniture and garbage to the dumpster we had to rent requires major range of motion).

But, you know, a girl still wants to look cute even when she's performing dirty, sweaty, manual labor.

On a happier note, I received that pretty little ring up there from Anjolee.   They sell beautiful, completely customizable fine jewelry like stud earrings and diamond bridal sets.  I chose one of their gorgeous anniversary rings for women with topaz to review.
 I have to admit that this is probably the nicest, most delicate, prettiest ring I've ever owned (sorry Fair Lawn class of '97 ring - you were cool when I was 17, but I've moved on; I hope we can still be friends)It came packaged in a lovely little box, and just makes me feel uber girly and fancy when I wear it.

It's so alluring that I find myself making excuses to don it even when I probably shouldn't, like say, when cleaning out a filthy house.  Luckily I remembered to protect it in my pocket when things got really messy.  Which is more than I can say for my toes.  Sandals + carrying lots of heavy objects + accidentally dropping one of them on your foot = major pain and muttered profanity.

I'm partying over here today.
