Fall(ing) in Love With Autumn

I used to mourn the passing of summer, spending my autumns reminiscing about the warm months that have just passed, and fretting about the cold winter months to come.  I was so busy missing summer and dreading winter that I didn't take the time to appreciate the now - the fall season.

But what I've come to realize is that autumn is probably the most pleasant time of the year.  Here are some of my favorite reasons why:

*the wonderful smells of decaying leaves, fresh apples in the orchard, backyard bonfires, and pumpkin pie in the oven

*the delightful sensation of simultaneously feeling the warmth of the sun and the chill in the air 

*wearing the sweaters, jackets, scarves, and boots that have been tucked away in the closet all summer

*pumpkin spice lattes, butternut squash soup, apple pie, roasted pumpkin seeds

*it's the perfect weather for jogging and hiking

*the stillness, the quiet; serving as a reminder to slow down and appreciate the beauty around us
