Shoes Your Own Adventure

{target sweatshirt & sneakers | ON jeans | diy scarf | sprout watch}

Remember those "Choose Your Own Adventure" books?  I loved those as a kid.  Plus I finally took the plunge and got myself a pair of fabulously fugly wedge sneakers.  So, yeah, that explains my corny post title.  Sometimes it's hard to resist a terrible pun.

Anyway, I can't believe how much I love these sneakers!  I never thought a high heel could be so comfy, but I guess putting it in a sneaker is a pretty brilliant tactic.  I think the best part about them is that the wedge is totally hidden, so it just kind of looks like I magically grew 3 inches.  If you're anything like me (ie. short, so very very short), this is sort of a dream come true.

Linking up with these peeps.

I Like Big Buns and I Cannot Lie

{top: gap  |  skirt, rings: c/o oasap  |  wedges: payless (similar)  |  belt: target}

It's true.  I love to put my hair in a big ol' bun.  In fact, the bigger the better.   Forget the sock bun (which I've accepted is pretty much beyond both my mental and physical capacity to achieve, anyway).  Give me lots of hair, teased into a huge, swirly, cotton candy confection to sit atop my head, reaching the kinds of heights sock buns can only dream about.

Admittedly, when I take it down I bear a mild resemblance to a crazy cat lady, but only hunny bunny gets to revel in that lovely look.  And luckily enough for me, he's a Simpsons fan.  I haven't asked, but the way he smiles at my rat's nest of hair makes me confident that there's a soft spot in his heart for an Eleanor Abernathy lookalike.

I'm linking up over here today.

Comfort Defined

{top: joyce leslie  //  target jeans  //  target shoes (similar)  //  target scarf (similar)  //  watch: swatch  //  earrings: claire's}

This is what I wore to my friend's going away party at a bar last week.  I knew I wanted to look like I made an effort, but I also knew that I'd be standing a lot, and quite possibly stuffing my face.  That ruled out high heels and pretty much any item of clothing that skimmed too close to my body.
So I settled on this extraordinarily comfortable & flowy sweater top, stylishly baggy boyfriend jeans, and what my hunny bunny lovingly refers to as my grandma shoes (totally comfy and totally sensible).
When I got compliments on how nice I looked, my feet weren't tired after standing all night, and my clothes didn't even feel snug after dinner, I knew I had hit the coveted clothing trifecta.

Hells. Yeah.

Come see where I'm linking up!

Sweater Weather

{sweater: old navy  //  chambray button up  //  jeans  //  boots: payless, similar  //  bracelets: f21, diy  //  necklace: gramma's, similar}

I wore this over the weekend to go on a bar hopping date with hunny bunny.  It was a little chilly and I knew I'd need something warm, comfortable, and preferably slightly expandable since beer & bar fare tend to fill my stomach up pretty quickly.  Enter these wonderfully stretchy jeggings, cozy chambray & sweater combo, and nice, flat boots perfect for maneuvering from bar to bar.

On the way to our date, we stumbled onto this lovely road in our town that I had never seen before.  It had all of one house for about a mile in either direction, which in notoriously over-populated North NJ is pretty darn rare.
I'm thinking lots of bike rides up and down this quaint little road.  Hopefully the people living in that house won't mind seeing me ride by with my hands in the air, yelling "wheeeee!!!" several times a week.

Join me in a linky party.

Ensconced in a Hug

 {sweater: target, similar  //  shorts  //  tights: rite aid  //  shoes: payless, similar  //  scarf: h&m  //  watch  //  bracelets: diy}

So, I'm going out on a limb here, and saying that wearing tights and heels can be totally comfortable.
How?
Just pair them with a flowy, billowy top and an uber soft scarf.  It'll feel like you're wearing a big, cozy hug.
Oh, and sit down a lot.  That helps too.
Because I wore tights and heels to a wedding and I can tell you from experience that stuffing your face full of wedding cake and dancing all night certainly doesn't win this sartorial combo any brownie points.
But staying off your feet and eating a small salad will, promise.

At Last...

{sweater: gap  //  jeans: UO  //  scarf: old navy, pinned to make it an infinity  //  boots: steve madden}

At last, my love has come along.  In the form of red jeans, that is.  I'd been hardcore coveting a pair  for months, but search as I may, I couldn't find any that were flattering.
And then Urban Outfitters came along.
I think this the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

Playing Dress Up

{striped tee: target  //  jacket: borrowed  //  jeans: gap  //  shoes: borrowed  //  bag: BCBG, borrowed  //  bracelets: forever21 & handmade  // ring, necklace: borrowed  //  earrings: handmade}

I was at a friend's house and finally "came out" to her.  About my blog, that is.  I hadn't really told anyone about it since I'm still new to it all.  Only my boyfriend and one other friend knew (well, and all you of course).  Hunny bunny and I were at her apartment when I needed to take my outfit photos, and darn it all I just couldn't think of any plausible explanation of why we'd have to go up to the roof.  With a camera.  All alone.
To my surprise and delight, she was really excited and extremely supportive.  So much so, in fact, that she styled me in her clothing and jewelry, and shot the photographs*.
My only regret is that I forgot to ask where she bought this jacket.  I want one so badly that I seriously contemplated running down six flights of stairs to throw it in my car, then a quick sprint back up again when she had her back turned.

How about you all?  Do you live a secret life of blogging or do you share it with everyone you  know?
